Under the supervision of the Director of the Center for Clinical Translational Science (CCTS) Biomedical Informatics Core (BIC), the Biomedical Intelligence Reporting Officer (working title: Biomedical Informatics Project Director) coordinates activities and development of both BIC and the new Division of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI). Through proven project management methodology and expertise in informatics and health care, this individual successfully manages the timely implementation of informatics projects to ensure progress toward established goals. He/she directs projects related to building, managing, and making available biomedical information via the UK HealthCare data warehouse, drawn from multiple institutional, regional and national existing and new databases. He/she develops policies and procedures to ensure appropriate and timely access to the data warehouse for business, research and instructional purposes. The Biomedical Informatics Project Director works with BIC and DBMI faculty, staff, and students to establish overall organizational infrastructure and operations. He/she works with CCTS, UK HealthCare and University of Kentucky faculty, staff and students to promote and provide informatics services available through BIC. The Biomedical Informatics Project Director also directs the BIC/DBMI administrative office.

The minimum qualifications for this position are a Bachelor?s degree and 5 years of project management experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. The successful candidate must have working knowledge of PMI project management methodology and a strong understanding of computer technology, privacy issues, including compliance with HIPAA. In addition, must have demonstrated competence in administrative software. A Masters degree in health related, computer or informatics discipline; 5 years direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of project development and execution is preferred as well as experience managing research projects. PMI Certification highly desired.
